Pour <strong>AG Real Estate<\/strong>, le propri\u00e9taire principal du centre, il \u00e9tait n\u00e9cessaire de lui donner une nouvelle dynamique et de le repositionner dans un contexte d\u2019\u00e9volution des centres commerciaux urbains. Le Westland doit r\u00e9pondre aux enjeux d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui et de demain tant au niveau de son offre commerciale que de ses am\u00e9nagements int\u00e9rieurs et ext\u00e9rieurs. L\u2019objectif est qu\u2019il soit r\u00e9solument contemporain avec un caract\u00e8re familial et convivial du commerce, traduit dans la signature \u00ab Live, Shop, Play \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R\u00e9novation et nouvelles constructions <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pour Didier Peremans, Architecte Partner chez <strong>DDS+<\/strong> : \u00ab <em>Nous avons voulu red\u00e9finir la lecture architecturale et fonctionnelle du centre commercial, sa visibilit\u00e9 et son attractivit\u00e9 mais aussi am\u00e9liorer le dialogue urbain avec son environnement proche. Le traitement architectural de l\u2019ensemble contribuera \u00e0 donner une identit\u00e9 propre au centre<\/em> \u00bb.<br \/>\nL\u2019ensemble des volumes existants seront compl\u00e9tement r\u00e9nov\u00e9s et r\u00e9organis\u00e9s, les fa\u00e7ades retravaill\u00e9es et les abords repens\u00e9s. Les deux entr\u00e9es principales seront reconfigur\u00e9es et deviendront des points de rep\u00e8re identitaires, visibles depuis les abords proches, l\u2019espace public et l\u2019ensemble du site.<\/p>\n<p>Deux nouvelles constructions d\u2019une superficie commerciale d\u2019environ 15.000 m\u00b2 verront \u00e0 terme le jour au Nord et au Sud du complexe. Celles-ci offriront une meilleure fonctionnalit\u00e9 au centre et la possibilit\u00e9 d\u2019enrichir l\u2019offre commerciale et services via des commerces qui r\u00e9pondent mieux aux demandes du march\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un lieu d\u2019avantage accessible et fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019axe principal du centre commercial sera prolong\u00e9 par des auvents qui abriteront les futures terrasses \u00ab Food and Beverage \u00bb. Ces commerces constitueront un des atouts majeurs du projet.<br \/>\nL\u2019ensemble des flux de circulation sera optimalis\u00e9. Les circulations douces ont \u00e9t\u00e9 encourag\u00e9es, et bien que le nombre total d\u2019emplacements augmente \u00e0 environ 2.350 places, le nombre de v\u00e9hicules visibles depuis les abords sera r\u00e9duit, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019utilisation de nouveaux parkings en toitures et en sous-sol.
